Africa Online Job Fair 2009 Summary
Zebajobs.com in collaboration with The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) launched 2009’s Africa Online Job Fair (AOJF) under the theme: "Reversing Brain Drain: Mobilizing Professional Africans in the Diaspora for the Development of Africa." The AOJF launched with the opening of the U.S.–Africa Business Summit on September 30, 2009, and continued through December 30, 2009.
The AOJF represented a dynamic opportunity, both for employers in the public and private sectors, organizations, as well as other hiring entities and job seekers ranging in experience from seasoned professionals to graduating students. The AOJF utilized web–enabled technology which allowed employers to post their vacancies for viewing by job seekers anywhere in the world. Participants were able to browse through employee profiles, view vacancies, chat with representatives, and apply online for positions while employers can review the credentials of African professionals not available to them in the past.
The AOJF was an unqualified success, made possible in part by IBM, the lead sponsor of this innovative platform. More than 1,300 active job seekers who logged into the online job fair campus on the day of the launch connected with over 100 representatives from the 18 exhibiting companies. By the end of the AOJF, some 9,500 registered job seekers from around the world had registered with the job fair online campus.

Africa Online Job Fair 2009, Testimonials
Excellent job fair! I appreciated the opportunity to chat with a few recruiters. This is a much better system than face-to-face job fairs.
-Jobseeker
I would sincerely recommend for AOJF as this is the best way to source for staffs, this saves time and resources for the organization that wishes to get the right candidate for a certain post.
-Jobseeker
It is a good start and should be encouraged as it is the best method to adopt at our age for cost and time optimization.
-Exhibiting Company
It actually allowed IREX to put its message out there and to inform others of the work we do and why we love working here.
-IREX
The AOJF was a good opportunity to meet candidates in a virtual set up. It was cost effective and operated in real time which made communications much easier. In my opinion it is much easier to use a virtual as opposed to having live fairs. This is certainly the way to go.
