Heather and others. I participated in the 2009 experience. I was initially excited to do so, but I was not happy that you all did not get back to us if we left comments and questions.
I spoke to a few company representatives, and they were going to get in touch with me, but never did.
I spoke to an MSH REP, even had someone I know at MSH write a recommendation for me, and he could not find the job on their internal board, nor did anyone ever respond to him about the position, in Ghana, and Senegal.
It was a very "funny" experience.
I hope others were more engaged and successful than myself.
Can you tel me how many hires came from participants in your fair? Do you know?
That I think would be vital information for both sides, don't you?

Thank you for your comments. To address a couple of your questions. The 2009 Job Fair was the first of it's kind not only for Africa, but for all of the companies who participated. I know from feedback received from the participating companies many were over whelmed with the number of candidates in attendance and the response. As with any job fair whether physical or virtual good intentions of follow-up are always there, but may not materialize.
I do not know the reason for the lack of follow-up or communication within the company mentioned - and it is unfortunate.
I am not able to give a statistic on the number of hires as the companies do not share that information with us. I do know that many of the companies were able to fill the positions they had open and then more that opened later on.
This is a hard to for anyone trying to locate and secure employment no matter what part of the world you are in. My advice is to keep looking, networking and applying.
